I have lived in Houston for 7 years and it is always fun to see new areas and learn new things. The best part is that the tour is from the perspective of the tour guide. It is personal and fun, which I think is the perfect description of Houston. Some people can rattle of facts and stats, but this is the "why I love Houston" tour. I saw places up close that I have driven by for years. It's a great way to enjoy a bike ride with friends and to become a part of Houston.
We had the best time cruising through the city on our 5 year anniversary! Loved the tour and Mia was a great guide. The bikes were super comfy for the 3 hour ride. We stopped for lunch in Market Square. Highly recommend for a fun couple activity or a first date! It was perfect! Thank you so much!
As I'm just visiting Houston, my first impression was that life here revolves around the highways. Tonight I saw something totally different. As soon as I arrived at the bike place I liked the group, which is very important. But when you go biking on a Saturday evening you know the people will be cool, right? Then our guide, John, took us on a very laid back ride through the heights neighborhood, through old houses and big oak trees, which, although just 5 minutes away from the highway, seemed like a totally different place. We stopped at a few cool bars, ordered local beers and sit in the garden making friends with the others in the group. Everybody enjoyed it. I will definitely go back for the downtown tour too.
My wife and I were looking for something inexpensive and physical to do to remove me from the couch. I ran across some coupons via Living Social for half price tickets for two @ $40 through Bayou City Bike Tours. I figured, "What else can two people do that doesn't cost at least that much?? Plus the glue started to loosen.
Although male/female single speed bikes are provided by BCBT we brought our own.
John was our very capable guide and stopped along the way to tell us factual historical information about the Houston skyline and other developments within the Republic's timeline. He was very attentive to the group and was always trying to get us to have a little fun.
Well, for my wife and I, he was a success!!! We really enjoyed the short two hour tour on the downtown bike trails that run along White Oak Bayou (do you even know the definition of "bayou?"). He gave us a little education about the "Rails to Trails" program and Allen's Landing and we rode into the old town square and stopped for a short lunch break. He left it up to the group as to how long we stopped so, giving us choices helped the mood of everyone and began to build a small camaraderie within the group.
Riding to the Discovery Green and stopping for a few minutes then moving on; we made several stops throughout the rest of the tour and in general it seems we all had some fun along the way. There were a few small hills on the way back but, by that time we were all into riding and don't remember anyone falling behind.
Thanks John of Bayou City Bike Tours!!!! We had a GREAT time! We will check out the Heights tour next!!!

My husband organized my 30th birthday celebration with Bayou City Bike Tours Heights tour and it was perfect! Great mix of biking, viewing stops, historical and fun information on Houston and the Heights area. The owners have great enthusiasm and made my birthday celebration very special. This is definitely a must for people who have lived their entire life in Houston as well as those visiting. We cant wait to do their Downtown Houston tour.
